Bon soir mes amis!
Today was a much more low-key day in Paris. Phew! My feet needed a day of rest! I woke up at 8:30am (and then pressed snooze until 9:00am) and ate breakfast. Madame asked that we eat by 9:30am every day, so no sleeping in for us! I had Special K again and some orange juice. I wasn’t very hungry.
After breakfast, I took a shower and got ready for the day. Classes didn’t start until 2:00pm so it was nice to just have a morning to get ready (and blog) and I even read some of my book! I decided to start Les Misérables while I’m here in Paris. The idea came to me while I was walking along the Seine on the first day. All I could think about was, “Is this where Javert jumped into the Seine and drowned?” I guess that’s kind of a morbid way to decide to start a book...
Anyways, so today was my first day of school here in Paris! I know...I actually have to study while I’m here. Bummer, right?! But really, it’ll be great. I’m taking three classes- French 311 (conversation), 345/445 Paris Walks (ummm...walk around Paris and post to a the school blog about it. The link is byuinparis.blogspot.com if you want to take a gander), and 457 Photography (study different photographers and apply their techniques to our own photos of Paris!). The last one is BY FAR my favorite. I’ve loved photography for a long time and hopefully I can learn a lot and take some good pictures. Feedback would be lovely!
After classes, Amy and I decided to come home and do homework. I grabbed my first crepe for the walk to the Metro/RER and that was my dinner. Yay for nutella crepes for dinner! I’m just so healthy today. We took some pictures for our photo class too. I’ll post some at the end so you can see what I’ve done so far.
Other than that, it’s been a really chill day! I need one of those every once in a while. I got to talk to my lovely Momma for the second time since I’ve been abroad. It was good to see her smiling face. She asked for my address so that she could stalk me on Google Earth and was happy to know where I was. I’m glad you feel better, Momma. I guess if your parents want to stalk you it means that you’re loved.
I’m sorry it wasn’t that exciting of a day! Maybe tomorrow will be a little more interesting. Plus, I’m FREEZING and I really want to get to bed so that I’m warm. I’m dying here!

Not really, but I don’t know what it is, but I can’t stay warm! Oh! And does anyone recognize my sweater? The text is all backwards but I’m sure my fam can figure out where it’s from. Thanks for sharing Aunt Sue!

Monsieur et Madame de Grandmaison are feeding us dinner tomorrow, so that will probably lead to some fun stories. They’re the greatest host parents EVER! Seriously, they want us to learn so much! We speak only in French at dinner and Madame has a notebook out so that we can write down new vocabulary/facts/history that we didn’t know before. They also want to take us to Versailles and they have a whole library of books for us to read about Paris and French culture. They’re the greatest. I’m a lucky girl!
Oh, here are some pics. Input please! Or ideas of what would be fun to photograph would be great too!
