Le Ballet

It's almost midnight, I just got back from the city, and I have to been in Paris again in 8 hours so this is gonna be a picture entry again. Sorry I don't have more time to talk! Sleep is too important to miss out on!

Here's my day in pictures:

Mckenna and I needed to finish a walk today, so we headed to the Pantheon. SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BUILDING! It was originally supposed to be for St. Genevieve, but the revolution started right after it was finished (and they destroyed any religious buildings), so they changed it to the temple of the nation. We got in free with our art cards. Love those things!

The dome of the building

There's a crypt at the bottom where a lot of really famous people are buried. It was so cool! This is Voltaire's statue/tomb

Rousseau

Marie and Pierre Curie

Their tombs

Louis Braille!

Emile Zola

I also got to see my two most favorite French authors' tombs! Victor Hugo and Alexandre Dumas!!!!

Alexandre Dumas

They're buried in the same little room

Just for you, Daddy! I know you love them too! :)

Victor Hugo's poster

Alexandre Dumas' poster

There are epic murals all over the building. This is the most famous one of Joan of Arc

Massive column outside the Pantheon. It faces the Eiffel Tower!

I thought this was pretty. Saw it while on the walk

Where Ernest Hemingway lived!

Rue Mouffetard - LOVE this area of Paris. I can see why Hemingway spent so much time here!

While I was there I found my FAVORITE pastry of all time. It's called a charlotte a framboises and it was heaven. And cheap. And delicious. I have to go back again before I leave!

Tonight we also had tickets to see "Rain" (a contemporary ballet) at the Paris Opera House. The dancers were INCREDIBLE! I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary, but they were flawless.

I'm just at a ballet at the Paris opera house...no big deal

We were up kind of high...the chandelier was right in front of us. But the ceiling was gorgeous to look at!

Dressing up to go to the Opera? Check. I was going to wear my high heels, but with the number of stairs we climb everywhere and all of the places I'd have to walk, I thought I'd give my feet a break.

I can't believe that today is one of my last days in Paris! I leave for Nice, France with a group of lovely chicas (and Paul) on Friday night, I'm there until Tuesday morning, we have an excursion to Provins (a fully intact medieval city), Wednesday is an art history field trip, and then Thursday we leave Paris for Lyon and Geneva! Time is flying by, so I'm gonna try and live it up while I can! But for now, sleep. Goodnight world! Until tomorrow!

Your lucky Bruce Wyane did not abscond with the ballet before you had the chance to see it haha!
