California Dreamin' and Getting Old...er

I’ve decided that this semester of school + blogging = impossible. Honestly, I have no time for anything except school, clinical, and sleep. But I have the day off of clinical, so I thought I’d update the world on what I’ve been up to!

PRESIDENT'S DAY WEEKEND

Since all of the roomies were sick of the Utah gloom, we decided to road trip to California and escape the cold. We stayed with Aubrey’s parents in Rancho Cugamonga and it was a BLAST!!!! The driving was half of the fun. It was a 10-hour drive, so we each took 2.5 hour shifts driving Erika’s car. How did I spend my shift? Singing my guts out to the “Wicked” Pandora station and losing my voice. Need proof? Here you go, courtesy of my roommates.

As always, pictures are worth a thousand words, so I have a bazillion to share. Enjoy!

Me and Erin being "hoodlums"on the drive to California

We got up early on Saturday morning to go to the Orange County Swap Meet. SO. MUCH. COOL. STUFF!!!! And it's cheap. Win-win situation.

These churros were manna from heaven. Never tasted anything like them! Definitely worth the 80 million calories.

Like a dagger to my heart. Pujols in Anaheim getup. Sick nasty!

After the swap meet, it was a 45 minute ride to Huntington Beach! We walked on the pier, took fun pictures, and watched a surf competition! So much fun! And it was just great to be at the beach again.

Yeah, we're models. BAHAHA.

It was a tad bit windy...

And now, Erin and I present our interpretation of "Titanic." I think we nailed it!

Just loving being on the pier

We be gangstas too. I just look ticked...

Random poses with matching hoods

Life is never complete without a jumping picture!

Or two!

This is proof that we've lived together for too long. And that school is making us exhausted! Every time we got in the car, we all passed out...in the exact same position.

Walking around Beverly Hills, CA!

At Sprinkles Cupcakes!!!! In case you didn't know, Candace from "Cupcake Wars" owns it. I got a red velvet cupcake and a raspberry buttercream "frosting shot." Both were DELISH!!!!

Why yes, we were in Hollywood. And yes, a bus of tourists saw us sitting here and started pointing and talking to us. That was our paparazzi moment of the trip! I guess we did stop awkwardly on Mulholland Boulevard...

There's the polluted Los Angeles! What a sight!

On Sunday, we went to church with Aubrey's parents and then headed to Crystal Cove Beach to have a roomie photo shoot. I also got to meet up with my best friend Lauryn whom I hadn't seen in years! She was sweet enough to take a few pictures for us. It was SOOO good to see her! :)

The Roomies - Erin, Aubrey, Erika, and yours truly

Demon squirrels that ate all of our candy!!!

Caught in the act!

Yet another jumping picture

Me and my beautiful roommate!

Just a few shots of me on the beach

For whatever reason, this picture is stuck sideways...so annoying!

Erin LOVES palm trees. Good thing that Aubrey has some in her front yard!

Our trip was short but sweet. Come Monday morning, we were driving back to Provo. We took our time though! We decided to be spontaneous and stopped at the California/Nevada State Line to ride the roller coaster. It was called the Desperado and I'm pretty sure it would NOT pass inspection at a normal theme park. We also met up with Sister Brown in Las Vegas to have some lunch. It was good to see her too! After that, we were homeward bound...and not very excited to go back to the snow.
Me and my ticket to the Desperado. We had to walk through the casino at the hotel to get there. Kinda sketch!

BACK TO REALITY

Not too long after getting back, we got to reminise a little bit. We headed back to Merrill Hall at Helaman Halls (where our boys lived Freshman year of college) to see Erika's brother, Chandler, open his mission call. He was called to serve in Paraguay and we're so excited for him!!!! So many memories came back! Aubrey and I needed to take a picture in honor of freshman year.

Please disregard my clinical outfit and name tag. I kind of look like a bum after work!

Another huge event occurred on February 28th, 2012. That, my friends, is the day I got old. You guessed it! I turned 21!

I made my own red velvet cake in honor of my birthday. It looked like crap, but it tasted delish!

None of the roomies got home until 11pm, so it was a late birthday celebration. Erika took a video of them singing to me!

MARCH 2012

And last, but not least, my Daddy came to visit the first weekend in March! I drove up to Bountiful to stay with him and my grandparents after clinical for the night. It was SO good to see him! We went out to The Mandarin for mine and grandpa's birthdays and got frozen custard for dessert. On Saturday, Daddy and I got my car inspected and took a drive around to see some of his favorite childhood spots. He was so excited to see the snow!

The snow piled up in the canyon!

I love my Daddy!

MISSIONARY UPDATE

Last week, Matthew got the chance to see the penguins in southern Argentina. I'm only mentioning this because I'm super jealous that he saw them so close! Also, his 2 year mark is in 98 days. That's right, DOUBLE DIGITS. I'm so excited, I can hardly see straight!!!!

Preaching to the penguins of Argentina. Hope he had some success! Haha.

Until next time!
