A Lil Bit of Llama Love

Hello from BYU - Provo!

Sorry I haven't been able to write since being out here. Its been crazy trying to fit everything into my schedule between class, football games, friends, and family. I love it here though! My dorm room is smaller than I thought it would be, but I am adjusting really well. My roommate is amazing and my suite mates are darling. We have some really great people in our ward too! (BYU 86th Ward, you rock!)

Although I've had plenty of crazy adventures while being out it Utah, my last one was probably my favorite. Don't get me wrong - I love STL Office Thursdays, FHE, hiking the Y, and playing basketball with crazy skilled boys. But this last weekend, 6 girls in my hall decided to plan the most unique date ever planned.

The theme? Journey to Machu Picchu. The reason for the theme? We rented llamas. You heard me. Llamas.

Now, as much as I would like to think that my writing skills could capture the awesomeness of this date, I think pictures would be much better. So without further adieu, here's what went down.

Step One: Make extremely realistic fake boarding passes as an invitation to go on the date. It took me a few tries to get them right, but the boys were very impressed when they found them in their mailboxes! We had to shmooze the guy working at the mail counter to put them in for us. Oh the joy of being cute :)

Step Two: Make matching shirts for us and our dates. Every couple had a different colored llama. They turned out great!

Step Three: Wake up early the morning of the date to cook the lunch we would be serving. Quesadillas, spanish rice, grapes, chips, and salsa. Unfortunately we realized that we were missing butter and tomatoes for the rice so we begged Ashley (Kelly's sister) to take us to the grocery store. She was a saint! We may or may not have made a huge mess in the kitchen while cooking...

Step Four: Due to lack of can opener, I had to be creative. I opened the cans with a pocket knife, some pliers, and brute strength.

Step Five: Meet the boys at 11 on Saturday, make them listen to the audio that we made, and give them their shirts! (I would post the audio at the end of the entry, but I have no clue how to do that).

Step Six: Get with the llamas (Tangerine and Dennis) and take a group picture before we set off for Diamond Fork Canyon (Machu Picchu) to hike to the hot springs!
